Contra dancing every Friday at the
Phinney Neighborhood Center
6532 Phinney N, Seattle,
in the "Community Hall" (brick building off lower parking lot)
Dance from 7:30pm to 10:00pm, beginner's workshop at 7:00
$7, $6 for SFS and PNA members, $4 for students, under 16 free.
First time contra dancers get a coupon for free admission to the next dance.
Coupon redemption limited to first five coupons on any single night.

We recently refinished our wonderful bamboo floor.
Please treat it kindly by bringing a clean pair of shoes to change into or
cleaning your shoes before entering the hall. Thanks to everyone who helped
us pay for and build the floor. See photos

Our hall has strict capacity limits. We occaisionally need to limit entry due
to high attendance.

- October 3 -
Deb Kirkland and W. B. Reid. Deb plays fiddle tunes with sweetness and punch;
W.B. provides substantial rhythm on the guitar to keep your feet coordinated.

- October 10 -
Dave Bartley (guitar, other fretted instruments, percussion), Joanne
Lauterjung Kelly (percussion), Matti Mero (mandolin) play tunes from Palestine
to Ballard by way of Bulgaria. Jennifer Youngman calls.
- October 17 -
No dance here, because Wannadance Uptown happens at the Leif Erikson Ballroom
in Ballard, Washington. Two bands (The Tall Boys and Latter Day Lizards), two
callers (Rick Mohr and Phil Jamison), three days of fun (Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday). Pick and choose what you'd like to attend, or join for the whole

- October 24 -
Ray Bierl, WB Reid and Bonnie Zahnow. Ray is a fiddler with the popular Bay
Area contra dance band The Hillbillies from Mars. He teams up with Seattle
musicians WB and Bonnie. Tony Mates calls.

The OpporTunists. Alan Snyder (fiddle, piano), Erik Hoffman (guitar, fiddle,
percussion, and other instruments), Topher Gayle (mandolin, acoustic bass,
percussion, guitar, mandola, banjo, and other instruments). Music from Cape
Breton, Scotland, and Ireland. Susan Petrick calls. (Wear a costume, if you
like)
- November 7 -
Swingin' on a Star - Julian Adamaitis (piano), Betsy Cooper (flute), Susan
Burke (fiddle), and Joe Micheals (guitar). They play traditional Cape Breton,
New England, and Southern tunes with a non-traditional-but-very-fun swing.

Matti Mero, Bruce Larson, Mary Boyum. Mandolin, marimba, guitar, piano, and
cello play contra tunes with Balkan, middle-Eastern, and other peculiar
influences. Tom Wimmer calls.
- November 21 -
Hands4 is Keith Moe on fiddle & mandolin; Fran Tewksbury on whistle, flute,
and percussion; Carl Thor on piano; and Rich Goss on percussion. They combine
seldom-heard traditional and modern tunes to create a blend of unique music.
- November 28 -
David Kaynor and friends. Karlyn Beer and Eric Curl call.
